About Eden

Hello! My name is Eden and my two main passions are cooking and teaching. I attended culinary school at The Culinary Institute of Virginia. I love sharing my passion with others and watching their own passion grow as they learn new skills. Along with my degree I have other certifications and experiences to contribute to my teaching experience. I look forward to teaching you all about whatever your interests are in the culinary world!

Teaching is one if those things that has always just come naturally in whatever environment I was in at the time. I decided to take on teaching classes after I left my former teaching job and missed the teacher/student interaction.

I have my degree in culinary arts along with loads if experience working in restaurants and catering many events.

About the lesson

I like to find out what they are most interested in accomplishing. Whether it be mastering a specific dish for a special occasion or improving their knife skills or learning a variety of basic culinary skills. Once I know what their goals are I can make a plan with the time frame I have been given. I want my students to walk away knowing what they came in wanting to know but I also want them to have fun!! There's no point in doing something if you're not having fun doing it.

Honestly I've worked with pretty much every age group. Quite literally.

Make sure you find someone that is passionate! Many chefs can be passionate but in a sour way. Be ready to ask lots of questions and make the most of your experience.

I got to cater an event at a Church Retreat for 200 people. The majority of the kitchen staff was the parents of the teens at the camp and had little to no kitchen experience. Most chefs would find that stressful but I loved it because I had the opportunity to teach all of them new skills. And it helped that they were all eager to learn!
