About Marlaina

Marlaina has been involved in the world of dance for 28 years! Having professional dancers as parents and her playpen's permanent spot in the corner of the dance floor, she was destined to remain in the world of dance. Marlaina has received professional training in many types of dance including ballet, jazz, lyrical, tap, contemporary, and hip hop. Marlaina was the title winner of Showstoppers, and competed and won in three national championships in contemporary, jazz, and hip hop. She has been teaching dance for 12 years, 10 of which have been spent in Davis CA. During the past 4 years, she has been growing her dance company, Mirror Image Dance Company. MIDC has earned many special awards including multiple choreography awards, technique awards, regionals winners, and invitations to numerous Nationals and World Championships.

My mother was a school teacher and a dance teacher while I was growing up. I followed in her footsteps.

I have a bachelor's degree in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior. I have a MA in Education, and I have taught high school for 11 years. I have been teaching dance for 17 years.

About the lesson

Students are welcome to come to our studio for one free lesson. We can help them choose the style and level that is best for them.

I work with all types of students. All genders, body types, levels, etc. We do not discriminate at MIDC!
