About Lois
Welcome!
I have been teaching for over 6 years and really love it! The best part is when a student says they can't do art. Everyone can!!! It makes my day when I can prove that this is true. I can teach any level of student and want to give you a good basis so you can pursue whatever technique you want to do. I can customize the classes to your needs.
I paint in oils in a traditional manner. Many of my paintings have animals as her subjects. I also enjoy landscape painting as a plein air painter in competitions. I am a member of the Oil Painters of America, Delaware Valley Art League, Artist Equity of Philadelphia, PAAG, Wayne Art Center, among other associations, and have been creating oil paintings for over 20 years. I received an arts degree and also ran my own graphics company for over 30 years. I returned to my passion for painting years ago, studying with several teachers. Over the years, I have been in the Chester County Studio Tour, the Montgomery County Studio Tour, Brandywine Valley Plein Air, West Reading Plein Air, Philadelphia Sketch Club Between Two Rivers Plein Air, along with many juried competitions.
Using the familiar landscapes, animals, and surrounding life, I create an earthy and emotive interpretation of my world. Oil paint is my main love but also drawing and acrylics are in my skill set. Competing in plein air events in the past few years has taught me so much about patience, values, color mixing, and capturing the moment. And how to keep your paint from freezing in 23°. Foreign travel over the past few years has given me a new appreciation of the incredible beauty of this area.
