About Michelle

I teach most 2-d media, (oil, watercolor, acrylic, colored pencil, pastel, and drawing, etc.) out of my own expertise based on my own mastery as a working artist, as well as my education (two art degrees) and experience stemming from 40 years. My art ranges from realism, impressionistic, through abstraction. I love encouraging and helping students to not only gain knowledge, but skill in developing their own style over time. I teach ages 10-adult, and Young people 18-under are able to use Artist quality materials, in house for free. Please check my website for more info: mcurryarts.com

I love making art...and growing other's creative gifts and talents!

I started helping out an elementary school art class, when I was in middle school, and have good memories. I taught my own children, as well as taught both kids and adults in church, as well as in an art association setting running workshops, classes, and private tutoring.

I have a background in Fine Art stemming from 40 years. I studied in fine and commercial art for a B.S. degree. After raising my kids, I returned and studied for and earned with honors, an Illustration and a Graphic Design degree, (with a Business Minor).

About the lesson

I teach and cater to the student first and foremost, while weaving in information about pigment, tools, and substrates, and techniques. In the beginning, I find out where they are in their knowledge about the media they would like to study, and help them to develop their artistic voice.

Young adults, adults, and senior adults.

I would look at a teacher's artwork, rather than a degree. Ask to see a range of their art, especially in the area you want to study. I would look for someone with a teacher's heart (many artists are good at what they do, but cannot convey it to others), you want someone who is a true teacher, who will not only give you excellent instruction, but also be supportive and encouraging. I would look for someone with broad enough experience, expertise, and vision, who will help to cultivate your creative voice.

Perfect! She really knows what she’s doing and how to teach you what to do and how to do it. I’ve been an artist for many years, but I’m self-taught. I’ve always painted by intuition, not really knowing what I was doing or why I was doing it…it just FELT right. I left painting for many years and I’ve forgotten a lot. I needed someone to teach me, that I felt was as good as, or better than me, and I searched for YEARS to find that teacher. I’m very pleased with the direction she is taking me, and I am very confident that Michelle is someone who can teach me, not only how to improve my oils, but how to paint in watercolor as well. I don’t think I could have found a better tutor.
