About Michaela

Hi there! I have been working as a professional oil painter and fine art instructor to adults for almost 5 years now. I am passionate about working with beginners and intermediate level students who would like to learn foundational drawing and painting skills. I ensure that each student has specialized lessons that guide them to their particular goals, while always focusing on drawing and painting fundamentals. Some of the subjects I offer include, specific drawing skills in graphite and charcoal, basic - advanced oil painting, color theory, composition, portraiture, landscape painting and more. I am confident that using the techniques I show you, with practice, you will be able to draw and paint anything you'd like! I received my BFA in drawing and painting from CSUF and spent an additional year studying classical drawing and painting in Florence, Italy at the Accademia di Belle Arti.

Since returning to the U.S., I have spent the last 7 years teaching traditional methods of drawing and painting. I have taught in a variety of environments, including kids classes, private lessons, various oil painting classes through 4 different Art Centers in Orange County and demos for several different Art Leagues.

In May 2026, I opened up Michaela Yoro Studio - a creative studio in Tustin, CA that functions as my personal studio and where I teach all of my current drawing and painting workshops for adults.

About the lesson

I am excited to work with any experience and skill level at Michaela Yoro Studio! Everything that a new student will need is provided at each class (including materials). However, I am always available for any additional questions prior to the first class via email or phone call.

I have had the privilege of working with many different students from many different skill levels. I have a particular passion for working with complete beginners who are interested in learning traditional drawing and oil painting. Many of my students who have never picked up a brush before my classes, have continued their oil painting with me for years and have created a lasting painting practice for themselves.
