About Amanda

I realized my passion for helping students achieve their academic goals when I was in college. On my to attaining my Bachelor's in Sociology, I took an intro to sociology that made me realilze my fascination of societies and how people within them play a role in its success and failures. I was then inspired to help students in any way I could because the more success they achieve academically, the better success they will achieve in all aspects in their lives, thus providing impactful roles into their socieites. How I will help students achieve their goals is by building a rapport through providing the patience, care, respect, support and willingness needed to help them achieve their academic goals.

After attaining my Bachelors, I worked as a Behavioral Specialist assisting in the emotional, social, behavioral and academic needs of middle-high school students with Emotional Disorders (ED). I gained the most experience through this job because it required me to give my undivided attention to the students emotional and academic needs. I learned how to effectively communicate and inspire these promising students to complete daily academic tasks with a positive attitude. After two years of this job, I decided to become a substitute teacher for my city's school district. I also started my Masters degree in School Psychology. Substitute teaching has helped me build my platform and taught me how to be a more effective instructor and mentor. I have been a substitute teacher for the last 3 years and will be starting my School Psychology internship in March.

I started teaching as a Behavioral Specialist. Inside the classroom, I would help students maintain a positive space and behavior while also teaching them in their areas of need.
