About Keiondra

I've always had a passion for reading and writing. I want to share my passion with other people, showing them that reading and writing isn't as boring as it can seem. I'm young, so a lot of the information I learned during high school and I'm still learning now in college is very fresh.

I haven't formally tutored in English, but I've always helped other kids in my class understand it better. In every English class I've taken, I've excelled; my grade has been nothing lower than a B+. I've written novels and have gotten awards and recognition for my writing multiple times: school, church, etc.

I love making learning something people want to do. It's something you have to do throughout your entire life and you shouldn't dread it.

It just came naturally. At first I taught dance at my church and then it became helping teach English to my friends in high school. Now, it's just blossoming.

I graduated International Baccularate in high school, so I have a firm foundation on the core courses.

About the lesson

1. Understanding what they don't understand. I want us to be on the same page about what they need help with.

2. Applauding that they're trying and that sometimes learning new stuff is hard; they don't need to feel bad about it.

3. Have them try the problem initially without help.

4. Break down what they did right and what they need help with. Teach them ways that wil benefit them. Learning isn't about making things hard for yourself, it's about making it work with you.

5. Repeat 3 and 4 until they fully and truly grasp what they're expected to do.

6. Have them try one more time without your help. Whether they get it right or wrong, applaud them for how far they came and what they can do better next time.

Mostly elementary schoolers. I work with kids in a daycare, so a lot of our 'older' kids come in with homework and I'm always there to help.

A lot of English -especially poetry- is subjective. Yes, sometimes things have a definite answer, but don't let teachers steer you away from answers that are a bit more creative.
