About Leanne
I am a positive and fun person who enjoys bringing that kind of atmosphere to a classroom and lesson. I am easy to talk to and will go out of my way to make sure I can explain a topic in a way that is easy to understand. I am going to be starting my 7th year teaching 8th grade reading and writing. I do also have background in 4-9 math.
Connecting with kids on a level that makes them feel good about themselves. Kids thrive when they know that the person they are working with cares about them. Small wins are wins after all!
I graduated from college and got my current teaching job shortly after. I have been at the same school ever since.
I studied for 4 years at Miami University for Middle Childhood Education for Math and English. I am starting my 7th year as a 8th grade English teacher. I have one year of experience teaching 7th grade math, however I help my students daily with math during their study hall.

I like to get to know the student first. What does the student like and what motivates them to do well. Then I would assess what areas they needed intervention in and then make my lessons and approach from there.
Mostly 7th - 8th grade students, but I do also like younger kids as well.
Make sure to find someone you feel comfortable with. The more comfortable you are with that person, the more likely you will be able to connect and then learn from them.
I recently got into graduate school to expand my license and knowledge and someday become a building principal.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I would just be as honest as possible with yourself and what you know and what you struggle with. We all have struggles, but trying to push the struggles away without facing them doesn't help anyone, but it does hinder your learning. Think about the type of lessons you want to do and how you want your sessions to go. You want to get as much out of these lessons as you can.
