About Adalynn

Greetings! My name is Adalynn Garcia, I am a Junior at the University of Texas at San Antonio. I have a passion for English and have taken every AP and Dual Credit course available to me. I have a 4.0 GPA and hope to improve your child's academic standing. My tutoring criteria provides a solid understanding of grammar, literary analysis, and writing. I look forward to working hard to better your or your child's understanding of the wonderful world of English.

I am the second eldest in my family and constantly tutored my 3 younger siblings. Due to my experience tutoring at home, I began to volunteer at my school tutoring subordinate grades. I've accumulated over 100+ hours of tutoring experience in the past 2 years.

I am a High School graduate and have been taking advanced English classes for the past 7 years. In addition, I received an A in every class. I am a Junior at the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Grade Point Average of 4.0. I have developed a solid understanding of English literature. I have taken advanced research that attested to my writing and analytical skills.

About the lesson

When I meet with a new student, it is important to address their shortcomings in the subject. I want to know what concepts they struggle with. From there, we reteach the concepts in a manner that is more digestible. After reteaching, we practice implementing. This can be done by editing, analyzing, or writing. Implementing will solidify students' overall understanding.

The majority of the students I've worked with are Kindergarten through Eighth grade (Elementary and Junior High). Generally, these students had dyslexia or English was their second language. Many of my students begin are discouraged by the fast pace in their classroom and need extra instruction to grasp concepts.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
My students should consider the following before our sessions:

Are they really struggling to understand, or just not interested?

Sometimes a lack of understanding comes from a lack of effort. Which is fine! My job is to make the subject matter more interesting and you excited about English.

Am I understanding the text/ essay prompt?

What should I gain from the literature, what genre is it?

Details

For easier concepts such as Elementary-level Language Arts, I charge $12 per session. High School- level English is $15 per session. Add ons such as total revision (includes revision of first, second, and final draft) is $1 per page.
