About Kara
I am currently a building substitute teacher. I graduated last year with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and I am currently studying for my master's degree in ESL. As a teacher my passion is watching my students succeed while also enjoying what they are learning. I am familiar with RI curriculum and would be willing to learn about other state's curriculum to benefit your child's needs! I strive for my students to attain a growth mindset in all aspects of life!
I grew up wanting to be a teacher so when I was able to I would volunteer at the local library to help younger children with their reading skills or homework. Then I started volunteering at schools when I was in highschool and loved seeing the students I helped succeed.

First I like to get to know the student. For example their learning style, their studying habits etc. I try to base my teaching for the individual student so they can learn at their best. I then work with the student on the topic they are stuggling with and try to incorporate different ways to learn the material.
I have worked with students, grades K-5 of all different learning abilities. I have also worked with many students whose first language is not English.
