About Mike

About me: I'm a graduate of Berklee College of Music and have been playing for almost 30 years. My primary instrument is electric bass, but I also offer ukulele and beginner guitar lessons. Music theory, improvisation, performance, and more will also be covered.

In addition to being a 20 year music industry veteran, I have played in numerous bands over the years covering most popular (and some unpopular) genres. I started teaching friends in the neighborhood when I was in high school. When I was at Berklee, I would tutor and offer lessons on the side. After Berklee, I took on a few students, but ended up getting a full time job in the music industry which made it impossible to keep a "normal" schedule.

I've been playing for nearly 30 years and graduated from Berklee College of Music nearly 20 years ago. In that time, I've played in numerous bands and have taught music to several students along the way.

About the lesson

After assessing the student's skill level, we'll start by discussing what it is about music that excites the student and work with that in mind. Beginner level students can expect to start with the basics and find they can rapidly progress onto playing full songs. Intermediate levels and up can expect to start at a comfortable place and move onto their goals from there.

I've taught teens to adults.

Hiring a music teacher is a journey in itself. Don't just look at credentials or how well they can play. Be patient and see if this person can this actually teach you how to play and sound better.

I run a music festival in NYC called the New Colossus Festival. We held the festival March 11-15 2020 with over 100 bands from around the world. It was the last pre-COVID event I was a part of and a moment in time that I'm quite fond of. Something more recent, I'm pretty fond of setting up music industry events for the Consulate General of Norway at the beginning of December 2021.
