About Jakob

I have been a professional musician for over 10 years. I graduated from University of Illinois at Chicago in 2016 with a Bachelors of Performance in Music with and emphasis on jazz guitar. Since then I have traveled North America playing all kinds of music. I've toured the country with the Broadway musicals Annie and Jimmy Buffett's Escape to Margaritaville and sailed the Caribbean playing in cruise ship show bands. I've played jazz, punk rock, country, blues, you name it. Whatever music you are interested in playing I can help you play it. I like to approach lessons from the standpoint of a working musician, to me that means that you should be able to play whatever you need to or want to play.

It is great to see a student accomplish something on the guitar that they previously didn't think they could do.

I got started by teaching friends.

I have a Bachelor of Music Summa Cum Laude with an emphasis on jazz guitar from University of Illinois at Chicago. I have performed across North America with everything from Broadway musicals to cruise ships to country bands, even punk rock. I was the guitar and ukulele coach for the national tour of Escape to Margaritaville.

About the lesson

I like to keep lessons fresh by working on music that the student is excited about. We'll learn guitar fundamentals and technique by learning songs you enjoy playing.
