About Greg

I taught several of my friends guitar while growing up and decided to teach professionally at M.E.A. in Lexington Park while I was attending college at St. Mary's College of Maryland

I graduated from AACC with a degree in Music in 2012.

I have been performing and playing with bands since 2015 when I formed the jazz/funk band SHP. Since SHP I have played in country bands, americana groups, jazz ensembles, and currently perform as an acoustic duo in the Delmarva area.

About the lesson

When working with new students, it is important that I understand their music tastes, aspirations, and abilities before moving forward. Alot of instructors use a simple formula for new students and will start working out of a typical guitar lesson book or have the student learn traditional songs to 'inspire'. I want to make sure that the student is not only learning but enjoying the process of learning. Too many times have I seen someone get all jazzed up about learning and instrument only to see them give up at the first sign of difficulty. If I can present learning the guitar as fun, no matter how challening the piece, then the student will always rise to the occasion.

I have yet to turn a student down. I have worked with ages 5-67, any level of proficiency, and any style of music.

It is best to find a teacher that not only inspires you to create and learn on your own but that shares a similar interest in music and playing styles.
