About Michelle
My name is Michelle Campos, and I have been a New York City social studies teacher for 20 years. I love everything about studying and teaching social studies. It is like watching a great movie or television show, only better. My passion for history started as a child from my grandfather who was a Civil War enthusiast and my childhood friend whose family belonged to a Medieval reenactment group. My expertise is in World History, Microeconomics, and American Government, but I am also licensed to teach Geography, US History, and Macroeconomics. I am a general education teacher who is also adept at modifying assignments and teaching strategies to meet the needs of students who have IEPs or are English Language Learners. I look forward to helping your student excel this academic year.
My desire to teach started as a girl scout in high school. Every year we were able to dress as colonalists at Old Bethpage Restoration Village. I loved teaching the younger girl scouts how to churn butter and make egg noodles.
I have been a New York City high school social studies teacher for 19 years. I also hold a B.A. and M.A. in History from SUNY Stony Brook and Long Island University C.W. Post. While I do not hold a special education degree, I have co-taught inclusion classes for over 10 years.

Before starting any content it so important that learn about the student. This is important to not only establish a relationship but what type of learner you are and any hardships you may be facing outside of the academic setting that impacts your learning. If the student has an IEP, is it extremly important that we go over the document so I am able to give the student the education they need and deserve.
Being a New York City teacher, many of my students are below or just above the poverty level. Many students face hardships outside of school, that can disrupt their learning. I have also taught students who are first generation American or are immigrants. I also teach inclusion classes in which I co-teach with a special education teacher in order to meet the needs of students who have IEPs.

I liked how easy she made me understand history. She made learning history fun and relatable.
She made learning so much fun and understanding. She was a new teacher but she was amazing !
Back when she was Ms Abofsky as my high school history teacher, I would say memorable. Specifically learning about early civilizations like the Phonecians inventing purple dye. She called them "purple people", which definitely helped me remember. So, much so in my college 201 history class, I blurted out in response to a question my professor asked about the Phoenicians.
Its a pleasure to review Ms. Campos. I had her in Highschool for History & Econ class. She displayed great management and teaching skills and she was able to make learning enjoyable. She is easy to talk because of her friendly attitude. Also very hard to avoid when you need something due to her caring attitude. Ms. Campos is one of the best teachers a student can ask for.
Great teacher motivates youto wanna learn I love history because of her
