About Kerri

I have been passionately serving students for more than 30 years! I graduated from John Brown University in 1990 with a degree n Elementary Education, a minor in English and a minor in Social Studies. I taught 3rd grade for 7 years and 2nd grade for one year. I miss those years! However, I left the traditional classroom to help students of all ages learn through whatever means necessary. I find tremendous joy and excitement at seeing students succeed. I specialize in reading, writing and Social Studies for all ages. I can help elementary students in any subject. Let's learn together!

After graduating with a degree in elementary education, I was hired in the same school that I did my student teaching.

I have a degree In Elementary Education, a minor in English and a minor in Social Studies. I taught third grade for seven years and second grade for one year. I have tutored numerous children and teens in reading and writing. I teach at an after-school program where I provide Hands-On opportunities for a wide variety of learning.

About the lesson

I begin by making new students feel comfortable. A child can't learn when they're stressed, so we will begin with an ice breaker, and, if necessary, some stress relieving exercises. Other students may need to do some activities to wake the brain up. Once the brain is in gear, we'll get to work!

I have experience teaching preschool through 12th grade. I have work with various learning disabilities as well as with gifted children.

Ask potential teachers plenty of questions before you make your decision. Know yourself and be honest about what you need.

I recently worked with small groups of Elementary students to write, produce and promote a movie. All students were engaged in each step of the process and were excited about the outcome! Learning can be so much fun!!!

In what area do you need the most help? What draws you to a particular teacher? What kind of teaching style is the most beneficial to you? What sort of setting do you need to best learn? Do you need a teacher who will gently push you towards learning the material? Do you need a teacher who will help you relax and not stress?
