About Jennifer

Hi, my name is Jennifer. I am new to this website so I would like to introduce myself and share my educational qualifications. I am currently a 43 year old stay at home mom with one son and 3 stepchildren. I went to Woodward Academy (one of the top 5 college preparatory schools in Georgia ) from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. After high school, I went to Auburn University. I started my college career as an Animal Science major, but decided it was not for me- so I eventually settled on and later graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, majoring in Healthcare and Hospital Administration.

Subsequent to graduation, I moved back to Atlanta and began working at Northside hospital as a Financial counselor. It was while working at the hospital that a coworker told me that Georgia State University was offering a new Accelerated Dual Master’s Degree program at night that catered to working adults. So fast forward a grueling year and a half later, I graduated with a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration and also a MBA (Masters in Business Administration.)

It was during my graduate studies at GSU that I began and fell in love with teaching. The majority of my tutoring has been in reading and writing, as those are my strong suits. However, I loved learning about Science and Math as well. I did excellent on all of my standardized testing in high school and have a lot of knowledge to offer in that area as welll.

I firmly believe that the key to learning is to make it fun so that’s what I try to do with all of my students, no matter how miserable the material.. (i.e. organic chemistry!) I have also learned that it is equally important to meet each student wherever they are and tailor the lessons according to what works best for each individual. Different people have different methods of learning- some are visual learners, while others do well by hearing or speaking the material out loud, etc. Successful tutors not only teach the material but also teach the student how to study and learn on their own.

Above all else, I value education and love to see my students succeed. Whether your goal is to just pass a class, to learn to read and write English as a second language or to ace your standardized testing, I can help you find what method works for you. My students are able to apply the techniques that they learn in additional current and future courses.

About the lesson

Literacy lessons offered by Jennifer are tailored to each student's needs and level. Lessons can also be held online. Lessons are also available in Commerce. The first lesson is free to define learning goals and methodology.
