About Sofie

I am a UC Berkeley Graduate with a bachelor's degree in astrophysics. I am a hard working, caring young woman who is eager to help further the knowledge of those in need of academic aid. I am good with children, and I have a great sense of humor, a go-getter attitude, and a passion for teaching. I am patient, kind, and I understand how it feels to struggle academically as you work towards success. I have taken many math and physics courses throughout my education, and I am fully prepared to use my knowledge to help others go above and beyond completing their goals. I am also incredibly proficient in English Studies, able to improve the reading and writing skills of those who are need guidance in those areas. I tailor each lesson specifically to the needs of each student, and I make sure each step makes sense before I move on.

My joy comes from helping students understand problems they previously did not. The little "ah ha" moments that come from each session drives me to want to help more! I love being able to get to know new people and help them succeed and excel in areas they prevously had problems in.

I helped my classmates in physics and math at the University of California, Berkeley. Although I do not have any formal experience, I have been known, throughout both high school and college, to help my classmates when they are struggling.

About the lesson

I get to know them a little bit before we start. I ask them what they like and don't like about a subject, and why they feel that way. I do a quick assessment through quick questions, and then get to know their personality a bit. I like to tailor my lessons to each student individually, making sure that the way I choose to teach is the best way for each student. I make sure I am patient and kind, taking great care to make the student feel comfortable and confident in each session.
