About Susan

I am always prepared to work with my students. I am patient and will figure out the best way to help them learn.

I really like math! And I love helping other people to see how it fits into our lives. It is special to be able to help students understand a concept that is new to them.

I worked in engineering software and then when I have my sons I wanted to spend some time at home with them. When I was ready to go back to work, I realized that I would like to teach math. Having my own children helped me to realize that!

I have a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and am certified in the state of Massachusetts to teach Middle and High School.

About the lesson

When I meet a new student, I ask them to tell me about themselves. Where they live, what grade they are in, any hobbies or sports, or anything else they want to share with me.

Then we talk about what they are working on in their class. If they have a textbook or materials that are being used, they tell me about them.

After our conversation, we talk about what they want help with and what might be the best way to accomplish their goals. If they are happy with everything we talk about, then we can create a schedule for us to work together.

I have worked with students at all levels. Students with education plans, college prep and honors level. I have worked with native english speakers and students that are learning English as a second language.

It is important to make sure that they are knowledgeable for the subject that you are studying. It is also important to see if they have teaching experience. Having taught many students as a teacher, we learn many different ways to help students understand the new concepts.

Just recently we had a birthday party for my mother at my house. It doesn't sound too exciting, but it was the first time since Covid that I was able to have a party at my house!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should think about what they are having trouble with in class. Do they understand the material in class, but have trouble at home? Is there something that their teacher does that helps them? Do they not understand what is going on in class? Do they have trouble taking tests? When is a good time for them to do school work?
