About Annalise

Hi! Nice to (virtually) meet you. My name is Annalise and I've been a tutor for 8 years. My top subjects are test prep (SAT/ACT/PSAT/STAAR/ISEE), STEM (primarily mathematics and life sciences), and English (proofreading, essay writing, etc.). I am primarily offering online lessons, though am open to travelling around the Dallas area for in-person lessons upon request.

I've tutored for a variety of ages -- from middle school through university graduates -- and excel at helping you or your student discover a passion for problem solving and efficient comprehension.

I actually begun working as a teaching assistant in middle school, grading 7th grade science! Ever since then, I have realized that lifting others up academically is a skill of mine, and I love to share knowledge and increase the confidence of my students.

I've been a tutor for 8 years -- in high school I tutored peers and adults in English, Physics, media arts and math. In college I worked as a teaching assistant for 4 undergraduate and graduate-level courses, as well as a tutor for the athletic department and via remote private tutoring services. I have plenty of experience teaching a variety of students from diverse backgrounds and helping them achieve their goals!

About the lesson

First I like to start off hearing about their goals -- what are they working toward? Is there a specific result in mind (e.g a an exam score, grade, certification, etc.)? Or is there a desired skill proficiency level required?

Once we review the student's goals together, I like to build a plan for helping them achieve that. Maybe it's assigning practice problems, or working on their study skills, or maybe it's planning our sessions and working through practice exams together.

Whatever the student's needs are, the lessons are personalized to be tailored for their exact needs -- and I love to learn a little bit about my students each time, and my favorite part of being a tutor is watching their confidence increase!

I've worked with middle schoolers, high schoolers, university students, and adult native Spanish-speakers in an abroad setting. I have working with a few students with learning disabilities (ADHD and dyslexia), and students from a variety of backgrounds.

Find a teacher that makes learning your desired subject easy -- it shouldn't feel like a chore to learn something new!

Think about your goals, and how well you personally work with the tutor. Ask yourself how much you need to learn, and clearly communicate your goals with your tutor. If you have practice problems or reference material, it would be super helpful to provide!
