About Kari

I have been a Math/ELL high school teacher for 11 years. I have experience teaching and/or tutoring pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, algebra 2, trig/pre calculus. I have experience working both as a teacher and a tutor. I have also been teaching ELL high school math for the past 6 years and I am a mother of two beautiful girls! I hold a bachelors degree, masters degree and two endorsements in ELL education and middle school education.

I love helping my students find success. Math is a challenging subject for many and I love when students find understanding, especially when they have struggled for so long. I want my students to understand that math teaches them "problem solving skills" that they can use in other areas besides just math.

Teaching has always been a passion of mine. My mom was a teacher, which led me to become one. Once I got into the classroom, I knew I belonged. I love helping students find understanding and success in math.

I have a bachelors, ELL endorsement and masters degree. I have presented at a few conferences both in Illinois and out of state.

About the lesson

I like to see first where they are at mathematically. What are their strengths, then we can focus on their areas of weakness. It is important for my students to see that they do know math, we just need to improve areas that are challenging for them.

I have worked with elementary, middle school and high school students. I have tutoreted a taught a variety of math curriculum.
