About Abi

I am sixteen years old and a Junior in high school. I was one of eight students in our county allowed to take college courses as a freshman. At the start of this year, I had enough credits to graduate high school. I have worked, and studied hard and have been blessed as a result. Being that I am still in high school I feel I can better relate to other students seeking a little extra assistance verses an adult whom the student may view as more intimidating. The best environment to learn is always one where the atmosphere is relaxed and not putting the student under further stress.

Everybody learns differently. Myself included. I enjoy being able to have the opportunity to assist others in achieving their own success by taking the knowledge they already have and simply expanding it in a way that is beneficial to that particular student.

I am a Junior in high school with a 4.0 GPA, and enough credits at the start of my junior year to graduate. I was one of eight students in the county where I reside that was allowed to take college courses, my freshman year of high school. I work hard and have been blessed as a result. I would love the opportunity to be able to help other students who may need it. I believe everyone is capable of success, if given the right tools and guidance.

About the lesson

Upon initially meeting with a new student, I always like to start off by first learning their strengths and also the areas in which they struggle. I will have them pull out their assigned homework for the evening and complete it. After, I will go over it and can start from there with an idea of what areas we need to really work on. If a student does not have assigned work, I have a sample worksheet I will ask the student to complete covering general mathematics in the class of which they are needing assistance.

Being that I am still in high school myself, currently taking mostly only college courses, I would say that I would hope to be able to better relate to other students. I feel I could potentially be less intimidating than an adult and have techniques in which I am able to better relate and explain a specific problem that is easier understood than others.
