About Adam

I love getting scholars excited about learning. Especially a skill that has been difficult to achieve!

I love making students feel confident in a skill that they have yet to achieve. I have been teaching for ten years. My most memorable experience, is when a student who never volunteered to do math problems and who hated math, volunteered to solve a math problem in another teacher's class! I was so proud of her! I hope she started to look at math in a new exciting way!

I kind of fell into teaching. about 15 years ago, I met this wonderful woman who happened to be a nanny. I started hanging out with her as she nannied. I found out that I loved hanging out and playing with kids.

I started volunteering at a loval school. I loved it so much that I enrolled into the School of Education at North Carolina Central University.

I am currently in my eleventh year of teaching. I have also been teaching ESL to scholars in China for over three years.

I have a bachelor's degree in elementary education with certification in middle school math and science.

About the lesson

I typically get to know my scholars for the first few minutes. I also ask "What is your favorite subject?" and " What is your challenging subject?"

I also like to have fun with learning as the focal point. I feel that if you are not having fun it is difficult to learn a new skill.

I have worked with Scholars from all backgrounds. I have worked with scholars who loved learning and scholars who have difficultly in learning. I enjoy sparking interest in scholars who absolutely find a particular subject/ skillset unreachable.

I would be on the look out for a teacher who pushes you to think and excell in all areas. Look for a teacher who is passionate, who talks like Bill Nye when he gets excited!

I love getting scholars involved in math and science. I do an Egg Drop every year. It involves math, creativity and a laundry list of things scholars can and cannot do. I believe in pushing scholars to do the unthinkable. Most of the time, they teach me something new! Who knew that dry dog food is an excellent shock absorber?
