About Daniela

I love teaching, and I am passionate about science and languages. I have ample teaching experience (in the classroom and 1-on-1), and I am working towards my Ph.D. to be a university professor. I will leverage all my knowledge and experience to help you succeed in your goals.

I grew up bilingual and am a native speaker of both Spanish and English; I am also proficient in French (I have been studying it since the age of 14). I currently hold a double bachelor's degree (a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Foreign Languages with a concentration in French) and a master's degree (M.S. in Entomology).

As a college student in the US, I worked both as a Spanish tutor and an S.I. (Supplemental Instruction) leader, helping other college students learn Biology, Chemistry, and Physics; I also spent a semester at a French university, perfecting my French language skills. I then became the instructor for an introductory college French course and a teaching assistant for a Genetics course before starting graduate school.

During my Master's, I served as the teaching assistant for a Principles of Entomology class and as a co-instructor in an innovative C.U.R.E. (Course-based undergraduate research experience) class on the nature of science and entomological research. I finished my M.S. in Entomology this past December; my research used insects to study fundamental questions about ecology, evolution, and animal behavior.

I have been accepted to the University of New South Wales (Australia) for a Ph.D. in Biological Science, and I was scheduled to start this June, but the pandemic has forced me to delay my start (Australia has closed its borders, and I will now have to wait until September, at least, to enter the country and start my studies). In the meantime, I hope to continue to expand my teaching portfolio, share my love of science and languages, and help others learn!
