About Mariam

Hi! My name is Mariam, and I am an experienced, patient tutor who has worked with children from kindergarten through highschool in classroom, after-school, and virtual settings. I have several years of experience teaching math, reading, and English, and I focus on helping students build confidence through clear, supportive, and personalized instruction. With a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience and current experience as an elementary substitute teacher, I create structured and engaging lessons that help students succeed.

I got started teaching because I received a job in my sophomore year and I absolutely loved being able to help kids of all ages with their education.

I have worked at a tutoring center for children before for a year and it really taught me how to create lesson plans and the patient needed to tutor children.

About the lesson

My typical process for working with a new student is for seeing what material they're struggling with and getting a feel of the concepts that they need to grasp, then I break it down step-by-step of how to solve each problem and then I'll let them try to solve them as well.

I would usually worked with kids ranging from kindergarten to sixth grade but as a high school student I have tutored many friends and work in tutoring kids from my high school which I also have experience with.

Mariam does an excellent job of simplifying explanations of complicated subjects. She worked with our middle school daughter to help her understand geometry concepts such as theorems and postulates. Mariam applied her in-depth knowledge of geometry to help our daughter advance her understanding and improve her grades in geometry. Because Mariam studied geometry more recently than a college or graduate school math student, she was better able to apply her more recent knowledge while explaining concepts in a way someone closer to her age group can relate to and understand. We strongly recommend Mariam as a tutor.
