About Nelson

I am an undergraduate student. That being said, I understand the challenges from a first-person perspective and have developed many effective tips to help me succeed in intense coursework.

This field of work teaches you patience and allows you to understand and assist others to help promote their understanding of a course. I believe, there is nothing more rewarding than that.

I am a current 3rd-year undergraduate student majoring in Biochemistry and Nutrition with a minor in Public Health. Since beginning my undergraduate studies, I have acheived a 3.5 or higher in all my coursework and have received a citation in Honors for completing 8+ Honors courses. I have worked with individuals aging from 14-22 years in my institution's tutoring center and have worked with individuals aging from 1-3 in my institution's Child Growth and Developmental Clinic. Mainly, I specialize in STEM-related courses, but I am adept to English composition and reading comprehension.

I have clinical experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistance/Medication Technician with medically fragile/behavioral children and am working towards receiving my degree in osteopathic medicine.

About the lesson

When I typically receive a new student, on the first session, I want to get to know the student's strengths/weaknesses in relation to the subject(s) they are in need assistance on. This could mean: study habits, organization, approach towards assignments (projects, homework, research paper, etc.), and their time management.

From there, the student or individual who takes a large contribution in their educational career, and I would devise a plan of action that aims towards the student's goal for the class (Basic Understanding or Mastery). Then, the student and I will devise a timeline and organize how often we will meet based upon their level of proficiency in the course.
