About Justin

Hi there!

I'm Justin Lee, an incoming Computer Science major to the Georgia Institute of Technology this fall.

I have three years of experience with tutoring, and I'm super flexible and open-minded to the course building process. I'm comfortable teaching a wide array of interesting subjects within mathematics, theoretical/practical computer science, and engineering. I'm also available to help your child through the college application process, if they are a high school junior and working on their CommonApp profile.

Some examples of subjects I can teach -->

1. Pre-Algebra through Precalc

2. Combinatorics, Probability, and Logical Thinking

3. Object-Oriented Computer Programming in C++ & Java

4. Electrical Engineering Principles (boolean algebra, logic gates, DC circuit analysis)

5. Introduction to Algorithmic Thinking (in C++ or Java)

6. Game Development in Roblox Studio (in Lua)

I found my passion for education in my sophomore year of high school, when I challenged myself to try a foreign exchange tutoring program. Through a year of hard work, I witnessed my student transform from a shy, simple English speaker to the quick-witted Englishman he is today.

Since then, I've immersed myself into countless educational opportunities in a number of organizations. As a tutor and curriculum developer for Built By Me - STEM Learning, I led STEM-oriented workshops for students of all ages. We taught them programming, robotics, game development, and more. As the New Jersey State Director of The STEM Garden, a student nonprofit, I helped lead a state-wide team of academic tutors to serve more than 100 students. And through it all, I fostered my passion for helping grow the next generation of problem-solvers.

I attended and graduated from an engineering magnet high school, where I studied in a number of academic topics including mathematics, electrical engineering, and computer science.

When I worked part-time for Built-By-Me, I recieved some hands-on training and mentorship from senior instructors.

About the lesson

Getting to know the student and their needs is always the first step. Afterwards, we can construct a learning program together thats both interesting and fun for the student, but also substantial and well-informed.

I would love to chat with the student's parents or guardians beforehand as well, to set up boundaries and expectations.

I've worked with students ranging from 4th grade all the way to 10th grade.

Please come with some knowledge of what academic subject you want to learn/explore. While I try to make my classes super fun and interesting, be prepared to work/study hard!

About a year ago, I travelled to a YMCA to lead a robotics workshop. There, I introduced the key concepts of robotics to around 40 summer campers. Using Scratch programming concepts, the campers were able to build and design their own command routines for the robotics to complete. It was a four-hour workshop, and the students had lots of fun learning with their robots. Their ages ranged from 10 to 14 years old.

I generally charge $30/hour, but this is subject to minor change depending on the course content (i.e. how advanced the material is, or how many total classes we need).
