About Jason

All of the subjects I tutor I also teach through one-on-one instruction at Futures Academy, Mission Viejo. The courses that I tutor include math through Algebra 2, along with science courses including chemistry and biology. I come to the student’s home at your convenience. Check out my website at mathandsciencetutoring.weebly.com. I have been tutoring math and science since 2010, and earned my credential in 2016. My focus is catering to the needs, skills and interests of the student and finding ways to motivate and challenge students while providing skilled assistance to help the student achieve mastery of content.

It is so satisfying when students have those "aha moments" and they realize that facing a challenge and overcoming it with solid effort is very gratifying. Data shows that giving back with positivity toward a cause is something that can help the mindset of all people. I enjoy focusing on individuals and their goals as my own achievements and rewards.

After graduating with my bachelors in biology, I worked as a project manager for the San Diego State University Research Foundation as a Wildlife Biologist Project Manager. An educator requested that I provide some assistance when students needed help in biology or chemistry. I took on the challenge, and found the experience very rewarding. I have always been skilled in math and I challenged myself to master concepts in order to tutor for math classes as well. Eventually, I decided it was time to make a career change. I earned my credential from CSUF in 2016 and have been teaching math and science since then.

About the lesson

Communicate with the parents or guardians to set a baseline, then begin our first session with a bit of a lesson taught to me by the student. I get to know a student’s style and needs by seeing how he/she teaches. We address the concepts with direct instruction and communication from the student to confirm a proper understanding of the concepts.

Those who need to bring up a relatively low grade and who may find the math or science class boring or insanely difficult...high-level students who need assistance to master the material and earn the A they are hoping for...students throughout the autism spectrum who need an educator who can adapt to their style...English-language learners...you name it, I can accommodate.
