About Ildiko

Hello, I’m Ildiko! I have been professionally tutoring mathematics to students for two years now. I began volunteering as a math tutor at my local library in October 2018, where I improved the learning and grades of children ages 3-19. I continued helping students at the SPC Seminole Campus Library until I was offered a job by a mom in 2019. I then met with each student and their parent at the same location and was able to do what I love as a part-time job. Later that year, I also helped my college peers with their Algebra & PreCalculus homework, offering many important study tips and a new way of thinking.

My favorite part about tutoring has always been seeing the positive changes in the way students view math once they are better able to understand it. It makes me genuinely happy when I can help teach math in a child-friendly way and reduce the stress it often brings. I remember back in elementary school when I felt like math was going to be the hardest subject in my life, but all it took was more practice, patience, and focus for me to become so much more sucessful (getting A's in Honors courses) and confident in this field.

I began teaching when I volunteered as a daycare assistant for the St. Jerome Early Childhood Center in 2017. That is when I realized how much I love working with students, and I became a tutor for the Seminole Community Library in late 2018.

I specialize in all of Algebra 1 & 2, as well as PreCalculus, each including high school and college-level difficulty. I also have two years of teaching Elementary Math, and I am comfortable using newer methods of teaching provided by each child’s school. After this summer in July, I will have obtained my AA degree in Digital Media at St. Petersburg College.

About the lesson

I have worked with students of all ages in-person and online, from 3 year olds learning vocabulary to college peers that needed help understanding Pre-Calculus. I also have experience tutoring children with ADHD, and those with other special learning needs.

I would tell students to look for a tutor who is patient with them, has experience in this field, and truly loves what they do.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should first check to see if there are any examples of the problems they have questions on, whether in a textbook or provided by their teachers. They can then compare their math question with one that is already solved to see how it works (if they find one). If this is not applicable, they should then ask their teachers or tutors for examples and more help understanding the problems.
