About Katie
I am available to meet in person in Las Cruces or online.
I have extensive tutoring experience. I have previously tutored high school students in algebra, statistics, trigonometry, precalculus and calculus. I am willing to tutor nearly any math class offered at nmsu or dacc.
I truly enjoy sharing mathematics with others. I was a non traditional student. I did not attending college until 30. I remember when I realized I could do math, having previously thought I was not capable. I want to empower others in this same way.

When working with a new student I first ask them what they expect from tutoring and we have a conversation to set our expectations.
Learning math is a hands on process. I think of tutoring math in the same way I would think of teaching any skilled subject. Some students prefer to watch an expert do it and then ask their questions. Other students prefer to learn by trying it for themselves and learning from mistakes. One approach is to start from work the student has already done and identify where things went wrong. Another is to go through a few examples and then work practice problems together.
