About Marcus
I like to create an atmosphere to encourage students to ask questions that they normally wouldn't want to asking in front of the class. My goal is to help the student understand the concept of the problems so they could understand similar problems. One of my favorite ways to do this is by using relatable examples to explain the concept for the student.
As a Biochemistry Ph.D. student, I understand that classes can be overwhelming. I was also a teacher's aide in an undergraduate college biology course, so I have a bit of teaching experience as well.
I've always enjoyed being a mentor figure to my siblings and friends. I think by teaching I get an opportunity to be a positive influence and encourage the student to be the best student they can be.
I started by helping my sibling with homework. My teaching expanded when I was given the opportunity to become a teachers assistant for a college biology course. Sometimes I would teach the class for the day.
I am a Biochemistry Ph.D. student at the University of Minnesota. I have experience in math up to Calculus 1, and I have considered tutoring science as well, but I really enjoy numbers so I decided to stsrt with math!

I would like to set the student up for success however I can. Asking the student's about their likes and interests allows me to give relatable examples so they could have a thorough understanding of the concept. It's important to understand what the student's goals in the class are. I'm great at plsnning and scheduling but I don't mind improvising.
K-12, Undergraduate college students
My advice is to hire someone you feel comfortable with asking questions to. As a student in high school I was pretty quiet and didn't ask the teacher questions that I had. I would stay quiet and confused the whole class. There's no such thing as a dumb answer, so don't be hesitant to ask your questions.
