About Rebecca
Rebecca is a rising junior at Georgetown University that has been professionally tutoring since 2016. Her accomplishments include a perfect 36 score on the ACT, National Merit Finalist, AP Scholar with Honors, and others. She is also an accomplished musician, acting as the principle French Horn player in the Georgetown University Orchestra.
Rebecca's unique approach to tutoring is one of compassion. Students need to not only learn how to be successful in a particular area, but how to either love it or get along with it. Tutoring should not be miserable--it should be fun and educational. Being a young person, Rebecca knows how to make that happen.
I love seeing the look of accomplishment on a student's face when they finally understand a concept. Most importantly, I love when a student's self esteem increases as they realize that they are capable of success.
I began tutoring my friends through National Junior Honors Society in junior high, but my professional tutoring career began in 2016 through Care.com. Since then I have had multiple clients.

During the first tutoring session, I get to know the student. What subject areas do they love? What subject areas are they not so fond of? Then I get a grasp on what needs to be done in terms of the subject area. It is my job to meet students exactly where they are and continue to help them prosper. The second session is when we really get to work, having set goals that we want to meet.
I have worked with students from late elementary school up to high school level. I have worked with very reluctant students and passionate students alike.
Look for someone you know that you can work with. Look for someone who will be compassionate and boost your self esteem while improving your skill.
One of my students was failing multiple courses when we met. However, I got to hear from his parents that he was able to graduate junior high school after working with me. It took a lot of hard work on his part, and it was so rewarding to watch him succeed.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
How much do I want to learn this subject? What have I tried before? What methods work for me, and which methods don't work for me? What kind of a learner am I?
