About Jocelyn
I am a third year undergraduate student pursuing a degree in chemistry at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. I have several years of academic research expereince and am currently working on writing a manuscript of my findings for publishment in an academic journal. I have been a teaching assistant in several chemistry outreach programs at my university to students ranging from elementary schoolers to high schoolers.
I have really enjoyed the opportunities my university has given me to participate in STEM outreach and find it incredibly rewarding to help foster excitement in young students about chemistry. I plan on helping students achieve their goals by explaining phenomena around them in terms they understand and relate to in order to foster an interest and love for STEM education.
I have been a teaching assistant in several summer programs at Worcester Polytechnic institute. Specifically, I was a teaching assistant for WPI's launch program, which is a week-long program for 9th and 10th grade students that teaches several exciting chemistry experiments. During this program I got a lot of experience in explaining chemistry topics to these students in terms that they could understand and also helped to foster their critical thinking skills by not immediately revealing an answer to them, but rather making them think ciritically about the subject.
