About Natalie
I recently graduated from UCLA with a degree in Financial Actuarial Mathematics and a Specialization in Computing, providing me with a background in various levels of math. I was almost never allowed a calculator in my college classes, so I understand the importance of mastering basic fundamentals like algebra, trigonometry, and calculus.
I was previously a swim instructor for 3 summers, teaching kids ages 4 to 15 all levels of Red Cross Swimming. I recognize the importance of individual learning styles and paces. I love to see kids grasp new concepts and find their best strategies to approach problems.
I regularly edit essays, especially for grammar. I took a class in college that explains the various parts of speech and how to efficiently put together an effective sentence! Good grammar has always been a passion of mine and I understand the importance of proper grammar in anything from papers to speeches to professional emails.
I graduated from UCLA with a degree in Financial Actuarial Mathematics, where I took countless math, economics, and coding classes, often without being allowed a calculator. I helped explain relevant topics to other people in similar classes. I was also a swim instructor for 3 summers for kids ages 4 to 15. I was a grader for C++ and Java classes where I had to review students' homework and explain their mistakes to help prevent them from getting repeated.

I like to find out the student's current level of comprehension first by seeing how they approach problems. That way, I can see what they already understand and what needs to be worked on. I also want to make sure they don't become reliant on help, as they won't have it in exams, so generalizing skills to solve various problems is important.
I volunteered at an old age home in the Alzheimer's unit. We were paired with one resident and painted a canvas together. You could tell that even if they got confused at times, they were so excited to have visitors do this activity with them.
