About Stephanie
As a personal tutor, I provide 1:1 instruction for students from Kindergarten to 12th grade. My moto is that comprehension, not memorization, of material is the key to academic success. I ensure that my students fully understand the content to demonstrate that they are improving. If a student is struggling with comprehending the material, I will use several different learning strategies to help them succeed.
I started substitute teaching right after my BA in 2017, and I have been tutoring since high school when I was a math tutor after school.
I recently was a student teacher for a PA school in the winter/spring of 2020, which also gave me experience working with digital classroom teaching. I think a lot of teachers are struggling to adapt to remote teaching, but I enjoy a challenge!

I will ask the student and/or parent/guardian what the student's strengths and weaknesses are, as well as favorite subjects. I will also take time to get to know what kind of learner the student is, and use this information to help the student as best I can. When helping with homework, I encourage the student to try the problem first before we discuss what they might do better. I also use examples to help students understand how to solve problems, and I take my time to go over each step. When helping with English/Language Arts, I go over the paragraph/assignment with the student before we discuss any potential ideas or corrections that need to be made.
I have worked with a diverse population of students in terms of background, age, ability, and gender-identity.
