About Susana

"Math is fun" said no one ever! That is my goal at Castle Math tutoring. We use math everyday without realizing and I want to instill in your child that math is needed for a lifetime. I specialize in making real world connections to the units we are learning. This way, children learn without having to think about all the "work" that math can be. I am a certified teacher in the state of Texas. I am ceritified 4th-8th core subjects and in special education. I have been teaching for two years in a middle school and I love it. During my first year of teaching, I was awarded the "New Teacher of the Year" award by my principal and collegues. I am here to build wonderful relationships with your children and make math a little more fun for them!

I hold a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas in Arlington. I am a certified teacher in 4th-8th core subjects and EC-12 special education. I have been teaching middle school children both special education and general education for two years.

About the lesson

I want to start by building a relationship with the student first. If they don't trust me, they won't feel comfortable sharing what they don't understand. Then, I would work with them to see how much they know, what they do not know, and how we can close that educational gap. I also like to get to know their learning style so I can mold my lessons to their preferences.
