About Amy
I have a concentration in Mathematics from the University of New Orleans, and have experience as a Middle School Math teacher in Metairie. I also have previous experience as part time math tutor. As a self-motivated and detailed oriented worker, I am excited to aid and help those grow in a subject that I love! Math is a language that everyone can learn and I’m ready to walk alongside those on their journey.
From my undergraduate degree, I have a concentration in mathematics. I was enrolled in several high-level math courses and spent time observing the math class setting as a part of my education program.
As a Middle School Math Teacher, I have received several hours of professional development training concerning learning styles, discipline, and other professional topics. As well, I have experience teaching math on the individual and group level.

Meeting students where they are, academically, is extremely important. While teaching a particular skill for a specific purpose is a large part of tutoring, teaching math fluency is also important for continued success in mathematics.
Therefore, I start by evaluating what the students know. By assessing certain skills, I know how to move forward! As well, I evaluate learning styles and preferences.
Next, I start building on those needed skills with practice and other helpful tools.
