About Jerry

I stand out in a way that I can explain a topic to students as simple as possible. I have many years of experience working as both a nonprofit organization and director for educating communities that do not have much resources for learning as well as private tutoring centers.

I enjoy simply sharing the joy of learning about a subject that humans have spent decades or even centuries discovering and creating.

I started teaching when I was invited to teach at a nonprofit education camp for STEM subjects. There, I eventually became the director and the main instructor for over 20 middle school students over three summers.

I have previously taught computer programming in the language of Java for three years. I have worked with various education centers to improve the education level of middle school and high school students. I am currently an industrial engineering student at the Unversity of Illinois Urbana Champaign. For the subjects that I teach, I have multiple-years of experience teaching and studying the subject in depth.

About the lesson

The learning model I use is called the Feynman model for learning. I would patiently break down a concept to be as simple as possible. Then, I would use analogies to help students understand the topic better. Lastly, I would check if students understood the topic by having them explain to me the topic in a way that is as simple as possible.

I work with any student who struggles with any level of math below multivariable calculus. I also help students understand the subject of physics. I am also a great resource for students to know what opportunities await them to advance their interests.

If someone cannot explain a topic that they think they understand, then they do not understand that topic.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students need to understand that the reason that they are struggling is not because they are not intellectually capable. Our current education system is not designed very well to provide *everyone* an equal opportunity to learn the subjects that we are supposed to learn.

I tutor to support my own education. For that reason, I charge at an hourly rate of $50. Prices are negotiable for more than 1 student.
