About Reese

The saying “Not everybody is a math person” is something I do not believe is true. Everybody can learn to understand math, it is just a matter of finding the best way to communicate the concept to the student. Each student learns in different ways and there is no one way to learn, especially when it comes to math. My goal when tutoring, I want to find what way the student learns best. I try to spend some time building a relationship with the student, that way the student feels comfortable asking questions when they are needing help understanding concepts.

I enjoy the challenge of finding the best way to help the student master concepts they are working on. I also love math! Any opportunity to work with and teach math is always a fun time!

I first started teaching my classmates who were struggling with the concepts in class, but I quickly found that tutoring for math was something I enjoyed. I have since started tutoring High School students and love what I do.

I am currently a University of Arizona student. I recently switched my major from Finance to Engineering. I have taken math through College Alegrbra and have a 4.0 GPA.

About the lesson

I first spend a few minutes talking about anything not math, try to learn more about their interests and aspirations. Then try to find how to best communicate the concepts and material to the student.

My students have ranged from High School Freshman to College Students who were struggling in their math courses.

I recently was contacted by my neighbor who's son had an F in Algebra 1. He was signfigantly behind in the course. I began to tutor him and in one month, his math grade went from an 56% to an 89% and he was really understanding the concepts. Seeing him switch from having a strong distain for math to really enjoying the subject has been one of my fondest moments in tutoring.
