About Nicolas

As a student in high school myself, I completely understand the struggle of not being able to fully grasp the topic that I'm learning. This inspired me to reach out to others that are currently struggling themselves, to ensure that those struggles will not only be resolved, but used to build upon a higher understanding of math. I believe that my personal 1 on 1 tutoring will effectively and efficiently boost anyone's confidence and ability in math. I will provide a number of methods to learn and retain concepts as well as a safe and fun learning environment to guarantee the most practical and coherent learning experience.

I particularly enjoy making sure that students won't have to go any frustration unresolved. I know many times I have gotten stuck on particular concepts and the slow deterioration on my mental health was not healthy at all. I enjoy that I can relieve some stress from the student and the parent.

Previously, I have participated in a tutoring club at my school where I reach out and help peers that may be struggling. I also have experience with teaching younger students as I have taught my little brother for many years of my life. 



I have been a part of the american school system for as long as I can remmeber. I am currently in the 10th grade. Currently, my gpa is at a 4.0 unweighted. I am more than willing to provide transcripts of my current and previous semesters at school. I also have extensive experience in public speaking as I was in a mock trial team for 3 years where I participated as a defense attorney. I am also apart of the officer board for the Symphony orchestra at my school.

Generally, I begin with a small bonding exercise with the new student. I tend to find that starting off with something like that allows the new student to feel more comfortable with having someone to new to around me. I do understand that the majority of students that will work with me are most likely in the elementary school, so it is a necessity that they are comfortable around me in order to receive the best learning experience. I will then ask for any textbooks or training books that they may have been previously using in order to coordinate my plan in order to help the student. 



I have worked with students from a grade range of 1st to 5th as well as an occasional 6-8th grader. I am generally more comfortable teaching lower grades as I tend to enjoy teaching younger students more. 



A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
In my opinion, I think that students should think through a number of questions before talking to a teacher about their needs. If it is a question academically speaking, I think the student should attempt the problem again and think about the concepts previously learned and try once more. Although the student may not understand the concept, one thing I find crucial is that the student knows that there is help if they need it.

Currently, I am looking for around $15 an hour from a range of topics from homework help, understanding concepts, and even advancing in the topic that the student was previously learning. I am also open to leniency in my pricing as I understand the tough situation the whole world is experiencing at the moment.
