About Jonathan
I am currently a UCLA student pursuing a degree in both Applied Mathematics and Physics. I was involved in UCLA's Learning Assistant Program (LA Program), where I helped tutor undergraduate students in lower division math courses. I also became a Head LA, helping to run the program in the math department at UCLA. My career goal is to do something with teaching, and I always liked the thought of being a tutor.
In high school, I was involved in mainly Mock Trial and Theater, and I am now a part of a urban dance organization in UCLA called Foundations Choreography!

I was involved in the Learning Assistant Program (LA Program) at UCLA in the Mathematics Department. As an LA, I go into discussion sections with TAs (who are graduate students) and help other undergraduates in courses such as multivariable calculus, linear algebra, etc. There is a training seminar that all LAs go through, which teaches all sort of different pedagogy techniques.
I later became both a Pedagogy Head LA and then a Logistical Head LA. As a Pedagogy Head, I trained other LAs in the seminar, teaching them the pedagogy techniques used in discussion sections. As a Logistical Head, I coordinated assignments between the professors, TAs, and LAs and organized responsibilites as well.

When I work with a new student, I first get an idea of where their level stands in terms of understanding the subject, kind of like a "diagnostic test" (without actually testing). I then set up a curriculum and teach the student at their pace, and I always stress that if they are confused at any point to let me know. I want them to engage in a conversation about the subject, asking as many questions as they want. My emphasis while tutoring is that it is okay to make mistakes, as long as we learn from them.
I have tutored a wide range of students. I have worked with elementary school students (1st-6th grade) all the way to undergraduate students in the LA program.

Depending on specific needs or the subject of the course the price can change. I am always willing to negotiate the price as well.
Also, as of now, I prefer to do exclusively online tutoring due to recent events. This also can affect pricing.
