About Elliott

Hello! My name is Elliott and I am the founder of STEMthletics. The reason I founded STEMthletics is because I believe that that STEM isn't a static subject but rather STEM can offer competition and excitement, just as in athletics. I am a Bioengineering student at UCSD who always struggled in STEM growing up. I think the reason was because no one helped me connect the dots to the real world and how fun it could be once I understood it. Just as when you practice a sport, the beginning is the toughest but once you get over that hump, STEM classes become fun and you can begin to enjoy the challenges it brings.

What I enjoy about my work the most is when a student begins to have fun with the material and can begin to apply it to real life situations.

I am a Bioengineering student at UCSD and have gone through a rigorous STEM curriculum which has shown me a lot about how STEM interconnects with each other and how to apply it to the real world.

About the lesson

What I try to do is work two parallel avenues. Because homework is a reality of our schools, I try to sit down with the student and help them finish their homework so they can turn it in. I then look to see what concepts they are struggling in and begin a review process and provide examples that can help the student connect the dots. After that I sit down and do examples with the student until that concept becomes easier to them.
