About Zoë

Welcome! I am a Math Intervention teacher for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at a public middle school in Seattle. I have a math teaching credential from San Francisco State University and am currrently working on my masters degree. I've worked with students of all ages and skill levels as a classroom teacher, substitute teacher, and tutor. I offer single-sessions or short-term packages where I work with students to help them learn or relearn specific skills. I prefer to meet in person, but am open to onlilne tutoring as well.

I love working with students to figure out what works for their distinct learning styles and being present for the "aha!" moments when things finally click.

I got my teaching credential because I absolutely love the learning process. I've been tutoring since high school and have spent two years substitute teaching and co-teaching.

I have a teaching credential in secondary mathematics from San Francisco State University. I have a BA in Modern Languages and Literatures from Cal Poly State University and I have over eight years work experience as a teacher and tutor.

About the lesson

I try to get to know the student's strengths and where they'd like to improve. What do they enjoy? What's fun and interesting for them? What do they like about what they're learning? Studying is so much more productive when a child (or adult!) is enthusiastic about what they're learning, so I try to find a way to channel that.

I've worked students from 3rd grade through college, some with learning differences such as ADHD and mild dyslexia.

Have a short trial session where you can see if you and the teacher connect- interpersonal connnection is important, and we don't all click with everyone. There are a lot of tutors out there, you may not find the right one on the first try.

Just before COVID, I took a trip to Scandinavia where I spent a couple weeks learning how to cross country ski- the scenery was beautiful, but mostly I loved being an absolute beginner at something and feeling myself progress!
