About Natasha

As a high school senior, it's pretty easy for me to remember what my experience was like in the position that many of the kids I tutor are in, so I think I'm able to really connect with my students and explain things in ways that really make sense to them. Also, I've always been really passionate about teaching and mentoring younger students. I understand that a lot of the time, the issue isn't with understanding the topic or subject, but rather with an incorrect way of approaching it. This is generally how I like to start teaching my students.

I've always loved the STEM fields and I think that a lot of the time, having a difficult time in a certain class can turn kids away from exploring that area in which they might be interested. I like seeing when my students are able to have that lightbulb moment that makes them have a new understanding or appreciation for a subject!

I've always liked to help younger students and began tutoring middle schoolers and elementary schoolers when I was a sophomore in high school. As a soon to be college freshman, I want to continue to help younger students in areas that they need.

I'm a current high school senior who has a lot of experience tutoring younger students through programs run by my school, informal tutoring on the side, and running speech and debate camps during the summer. I also mentor younger students as the president of our school's Science Club. Additionally, I am an AP Spanish student. My experience in all of these fields makes me very qualified to tutor younger students in these subjects.

About the lesson

I've worked with several younger students in the past and I generally like to start by trying to find the root cause of their issues (ie. lack of understanding, test taking anxiety, incorrect approaches to problems) and go from there. I also like to briefly get to know the student because in my experience, its easier to understand if I can draw connections to things the student is already knowledgable about.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Try to get to the root cause of why you're having trouble. I recommend going over past assignments and tests and cataloging the areas that you have difficulty in (ie. specific topics in a chapter, word problems). Also, try to notice any patterns in your studying habits and how that translates to your performance in classes. This will help me be able to better help the student!

I charge 20 dollars/hour to work with elementary students, 30 dollars/hour for middle school students, and 40 dollars/hour for high schoolers.
