About Alexander

The best thing about math is when it *clicks*, when you see how it works and why. I'll do my best to make sure your child has moments like this throughout their career. I've had over a year of experience tutoring disadvantaged elementary school kids, and I routinely help other students in my Calc II class.

I'm an 18 year-old USF sophomore who lives on campus. I can either bike a few miles to your student, or we can do lessons in one of the many student-friendly areas on campus.

I've taken and excelled in math classes up to Calc II, and I'm flexible with online, in person, or hybrid teaching methods.

About the lesson

We'll start with a quick discussion on what they feel they need the most work on. From that I'll decide whether we should drill on concepts, memorization, or what I call "mathematical creativity", or how well you can use concepts, memorized facts, and even your calculator in different ways to solve difficult problems.

I'll also ask them on how they best like to learn and conform to their preferences. If they don't know I'll start with concepts.

Finally, I'll ask what kind of snacks, candy, or other prizes they like. That way I can reward them if they do well, and celebrate if they do well on an exam, for example.
