About Russell
I have 7 years experience teaching 8th grade math. During that time I also taught Algebra I and Geometry one year. I am the owner of Mathnasium of Conroe and have worked there for over 5 years (in addition to my 7 years as a public school teacher). For the past 3 years, I have also taught Intro Algebra at Lone Star College North Harris.
I love that "lightbulb" moment when a concept suddenly clicks into place for a student. Seeing a child going from dreading and loathing math to actually tolerating it (or maybe even liking) it is a lot of fun! I take great pride in knowing that I was a part of the process that helped a child to become successful. The smiles make it all worthwhile!

When Starting with a new student, I like to find out as much as I can about the family's goals. Are we behind and trying to catch up? Are we just trying to get our math grade higher by the end of the grading period? Perhaps we are trying to get ahead in order to join the Pre-AP classes. Based on the family's goals, I decide if we should begin with a short assessment, jump right into homework or if I should bring enrichment work to help a student accelerate their learning.
