About Dominic
Hi! My name is Dominic Amend.
Helping people is my passion in life. I lived this passion out for the past couple years working in medicine as an EMT before I decided I want to be a college professor! Teaching happens to run in my family. Currently, I'm steadily on my way towards having a Doctorate in Philosophy, but I have an apptitude and interest in other studies, as well. Anything involving writing, reading, comprehension, and thought on both logical and creative levels are my most preferred fields, but I can throw the number around pretty well, too!
I'm excited to help you reach your goals!
I come from a family of teachers. Many taught professionally, but some taught in other ways. Watching my family members transfer skills and ideas to one another while I was growing up was exciting, and it was especially exciting when they were transfering their knowledge and abilities to me! Because of this, I've always loved teaching and talking with my friends about ideas and skills of many different areas. I've always been in touch with my desire to learn, so when I can act as a catalyst for someone elses desire to learn, it feels great!

I like to start off by getting to know the person I'm teaching. I want them to feel comfortable to make honest attempts, so being comfortable is a big deal to me. Next, I want to learn how they learn. We all have our individual ways of learning, and if I can hone in on the best way someone absorbs knowledge, obviously things will go smoother. Finally, I'll do my best to cater the content towards my students learning style. We'll play the game of mental ping pong until they can stand on their own!
