For me, music is a language that connects everyone around the world and is able to express what words cannot express. Music has also helped me grow as a person and develop many important skills in life such as creativity, discipline, and perserverance.

I taught private lessons as well as teaching at a music/arts summer camp in high school and college. Upon graduation from college, I taught at a New York charter school for a year and am now pursuing my master's degree, where I hope to continue teaching.

I have taught music privately/at summer camps in the past and have studied music at Northwestern University. I also taught I am currently in the first year of my master's degree in jazz composition at Queens College.

I will evaluate a student's ability in various musical/technical aspects, look for glows (areas of strength) and grows (areas for improvement), and design routines/activities catered to strengthening glows and grows.

I have worked with students of all different backgrounds and ability levels and am flexible to what they need and want.

My advice to a student looking to hire a teacher in my area of expertise is to both work very hard at your craft and also remember to enjoy yourself and have fun while doing so.

While teaching at a summer camp, one camper desired to learn how to play trumpet midway through the session and wanted to join the jazz band. This particular camper had tried to play in the band a previous summer but was denied the opportunity. I gave him the opportunity and he learned how to play the trumpet very quickly and performed with the band in the final concert.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should ask themselves:

What are my glows and grows?

What are my short-term and long-term goals?

What am I passionate about?
