About Felicia

I have been teaching piano since 2014 to students of ages 4 and up, including adults. Every student I have entered into piano exams have returned to me with top scores and highest marks. I stay active in my professional development and am always taking in new ideas and methods to suit every student.

My teaching style is developed in large part from psychological research and spontaneous adaptibility. I don't play cute games, and I'm not going to treat you "like a child" - I treat every student like a *person* instead: with respect and with utmost interest in your understanding and comprehension! I believe everyone should experience the awesome feeling of learning for its own sake.

Beyond music reading and classical music training, I incorporate music theory to streamline understanding for how music works, and music history to give context for the culture of how different musical styles originated, as well as the instrument itself.

I have a knack and great enthusiasm for explaining things. Piano playing is one of the most complex and versatile skills one can learn - and unraveling music to a point where anyone can understand it is a lot of fun. I love giving my students a strong sense of accomplishment and solid understanding about what they have learned.

I am a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music [NCTM] through MTNA, graduated in 2020 with an M.M. in Piano Performance and in 2018 with a B.M. in Piano Performance with a Music History Minor from West Chester University, receiving Magna Cum Laude honors. I have attended several pedagogical lectures and numerous MTNA-affiliated conferences to absorb a wide variety of teaching strategies.

Ages 4 and up, including teenagers and adults. My students have a great variety of learning styles and preferences. I also have worked well with autism spectrum, ADHD spectrum, and other neurodivergent students, by communicating and understanding them in their own language. Due to my tight schedule, I am currently only accepting teenager and adult students.

Seek a teacher whose goal is for you to understand what's happening in the music, and who can teach you the independence to figure out the music yourself.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What kind of music do you like? Do you have any musical goals, or would you like to use musical training to keep your mind sharp, or both?
