About Ruby

Hello lovely people!

My name is Ruby Kabuiku and I tutor French, as well as other subjects in the elementary to middle school levels.

I just graduated St. Timothy's School in Stevenson, Maryland with a 3.75 GPA. I have also completed the rigorous International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB) and received my IB Diploma.

I have tutored students in my school as well as friends and family for three years. I have always enjoyed sharing knowledge and empowering people to reach their goals.

Tutoring is more than just teaching, it is an experience where you grow in ways that you never thought of before. Gaining confidence in yourself and exuding that in your classroom as well as in your daily life.

About the lesson

When tutoring a new client, I typically spend around 20 minutes, depending on how long the session is, to get to know the student and for them to get to know me. I believe that it is important for the student to feel at ease in the sessions. Learning new material or reviewing while stressed, anxious, or uncomfortable will make it harder for the student to pay attention and engage accordingly.

I also set easy expectations for myself and the student so that the tutoring process flows easily. My number one priority is to make sure the student is getting the help they need in the time allocated. It is essential that the student and I set small achievable goals in the first session so that by the end of it all they will accomplish their goal with flying colors.
