About Gabriella
My passion is teaching young learners how to read and spell fluently. I have taught 1st grade for 10 years and the reading growth I see in my students each year is truly my favorite experience every time. I have completed my Master's plus 30, and am halfway through my Orton Gillingham certification in Reading & Dyslexia studies at Fairleigh Dickinson University. I have completed lower level training for grades k-2 and will be finishing upper level training (higher grades) by spring 23. I was also a recipient of the Excellence in Education award through my school district in 2021, which was quite the honor during a virtual school year. This year, I was nominated as the Governor's Educator of the Year in my building.
I love working one on one with students or in a small group to help them improve in reading and spelling. Teaching my students word attack skills, practicing phonemic awareness, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency are some key components to becoming a successful reader. Seeing the reading growth in my first graders from September to June is truly the highlight of my school year.
